Independent ventures

Some repeatable problems support an opportunity beyond a single internal tool. Operon considers products and companies developed internally or alongside operating partners when there is evidence for a standalone business.

When to consider this

Consider this focus when a product opportunity has a defined audience and the operating requirements can be examined alongside market demand. A promising concept still needs evidence and an agreed structure.

What we work through

  • Market evidence

Examine the problem, the audience and the alternatives already available. Distinguish direct evidence of demand from interest that has not yet been tested.

  • Operating partners

Clarify the experience, responsibilities and ongoing involvement needed to develop the opportunity. Participation and ownership are separate questions that require explicit agreement.

  • Product formation

Define the first useful product and the learning it should support. Connect the initial scope to an observed workflow rather than an unrestricted feature list.

  • Independent growth

Consider how the product would be delivered, supported and developed over time. Commercial relationships and operational capacity need to progress together.

Any ownership, intellectual-property, revenue-sharing, investment, or partnership arrangement requires a separate written agreement. It must never be assumed from a consulting or implementation engagement.
